The vision, as of 18 September 2026 · refreshed after the first practitioner review
Software that stays with you.
Penguins pair once, for life. Quiggy meets you at the kitchen table when all you have is an idea, does your books the day you have a company, and is still there when you hire your first person, grow, and one day sell or hand it on. One relationship for the whole life of the thing.
On 17 September the chief executive of an international accounting firm spent ninety minutes with the proof of concept. Two of his requests were built while he was in the room; the rest became the ledger chapter now being built. His central question — how do you make this simple, a system you can just tell to "issue all the invoices" — is the first thing on the list below.
This week
A ninety-minute session with an accountant who has signed thousands of sets of accounts. He went straight for the ledger. Green is live on the demo business today; amber is being built this weekend; blue follows straight after.
One bar on every page, typed or spoken. "Issue all the invoices" becomes a plan you can see — Issue 3 draft invoices totalling €4,981.60 to 3 customers — with a tick beside each line. Clear one and the button reads Do 2 of 3. Nothing moves money or leaves the business without a tap; the same code the buttons use, never a new path.
Sales ledger, purchase ledger, expenses and general ledger as one tab strip over one immutable ledger — with the owner's words beside them: who owes you, who you owe, what you spent, everything. Ageing the way an accountant reads it: current, 30, 60, 90, 90+.
A generated set of a hundred invented receipts, bills and invoices, each built to trigger one decision — personal or business, cost of sale or expense, duplicate, reverse charge, prepayment, refund — that an accountant can follow from paper to trial balance. It found three real gaps on its first run, and they are written down.
His sharpest point. On payslips, forms, invoices and the ledger, the statutory or accounting term is used exactly as the authority spells it; the plain-language line explains beside it and never replaces it. Every label was audited against its source; six changed.
Salary held as an annual figure, the month derived from hours and rate the way Maltese payroll does it; net-pay agreements grossed up to the cent; the payslip laid out as a practitioner's template; leave, maternity, joiners and leavers pro-rated. Nothing in the calculation changes until a practitioner confirms in writing.
The first thing an accountant tests. Period-end accruals proposed and approved with a tap, prepayments spread by month, deposits held as deferred income until delivery — all auto-reversing. A cash view beside the accrual view, with "invoiced sales" and "money in" never the same word.
Quotes that become orders with a schedule of invoices; purchase orders matched to partial bills; a statement of work as an order with milestones. Commitments show in the forecast the day they are made and never touch the ledger until an invoice does.
From accounting profit to chargeable income as a schedule the accountant checks — add-backs, capital allowances, losses — attached to the year-end pack. Malta first, the UK close behind, every line sourced and marked unconfirmed until signed. The return and the filing come after.
Quiggy launches under its own name; white-label is the offer to firms. The price is not a number yet — a cost and price study comes first. And the ledger chapter goes before the paperwork chapter, because the accountant is the channel and the accountant went straight for the ledger.
Two doors, one relationship
Quiggy Mentor
Bring the idea, not the books. Quiggy asks in plain words — how many, at what price, how many days, what you need to take home — and a business plan comes out of the conversation, not a template. You learn the finance words at the exact moment your own number needs one. Free or nearly free until the company exists.
Quiggy Finance
Photograph a receipt, drop forty documents in the shoebox, or forward an email. Quiggy posts them into books that can't be quietly edited, asks you one question only when a human has to decide, learns from every answer, and does the paperwork of being a business with you — payroll, VAT, chasing, forecasting, filings, and the forms nobody enjoys.
What makes it Quiggy
Quiggy Mentor
Inspired by the way great coaches work — dream bigger, tell the truth, find the real problem, keep score, then hand accountability to a human — kept firmly in Quiggy's lane: your business, your money, your time.
Public at poc.quiggy.app/mentor, no sign-in: "Hey, nice to meet you. What's your idea?" Nine questions with one-tap answers, a reflection every fifth, a living playbook. The idea becomes a plan by conversation. Terms taught only when your number needs a name. Deck and plan in the shape financiers expect. Rehearse the banker's questions before the meeting.
Ten minutes. Cash, customers who owe you, costs against plan, tax readiness, team — filled from the books — and your own time, rated by you. Two lowest scores, two actions in the calendar. Then silence.
One number across every account, one sentence, and the question that matters: what is this money buying?
What should I charge. Can I afford this. When does the next hire pay back. Am I going to make it this month. Answered in a sentence from your real numbers — the hire through the real payroll engine, not a spreadsheet guess.
What an hour of you is worth, from your own take-home and hours. Where the hours go. What Quiggy has already bought back, measured. Then the replacement ladder, one plain hiring question at a time.
One idea taught a month. Milestones noticed — first invoice, first payment, first employee. The traps flagged before they bite: the first VAT return, the first payroll filing, the tax nobody mentioned.
Photograph any official letter. What it means for you, what to do, by when — and the task is made. The same document-reading skill, pointed at the brown envelopes.
Deposits, terms and the chasing ladder let a small business teach its customers to pay on time without the owner being the bad guy. And a quiet word before the next quote: this customer costs you more than they pay.
Selling, handing on, or closing properly: valuation pack, buyer's due-diligence bundle, the steps in the right order. A business that ends well recommends Quiggy to the next one.
Quiggy Finance
Built as a proof of concept at poc.quiggy.app between 13 and 18 September 2026 — eleven stages and the first of the ledger chapter. Green means live on the demo business today; amber means being built this weekend; blue means on the roadmap.
Photo, shoebox, PDF splitting, forward-to address and Gmail comb. Immutable double-entry ledger with reversals. Duplicate detection. One-tap questions with a free-text escape and grouping. Merchant memory.
Malta VAT by registration type and place of supply — domestic, reverse charge, intra-EU goods with the German entry certificate pre-filled. VAT return preview with every box cited. Ask Quiggy answers from official sources only.
Branded invoices with the right statutory clause, in the customer's language. A reminder ladder that earns autonomy and stops the instant the bank match lands. Replies become promises, disputes or questions. Debtors view and statements of account.
Provider-neutral rail (GoCardless first). Deterministic matching — never fuzzy on amounts. Receipts become evidence; customer payments settle invoices by themselves; salary payments clear payroll. Reconciliation view.
Malta payroll from sourced 2026 tables, one balanced entry per run, director approval, branded payslips, FS5 and FS3 previews. Employees get their own page: payslips, documents, onboarding by link, leave requests. Change detection in plain words.
Standing costs learned from the pattern and confirmed once. Thirteen weeks of cash with the low point and its cause in a sentence. Budgets by account and cost centre. What-ifs on the real engines. Levers with numbers — no lender, no rate.
A filing calendar with the rule behind every date. Cards ahead of deadlines, evidence when filed. Pre-filled returns. A SEPA payment batch for wages and the tax authority from one approval card.
Euro home currency; ECB rates fetched daily and cited. Invoices, bank accounts and purchases in any currency. Exchange differences posted automatically on settlement; period-end revaluation, provisional and self-reversing.
Supplier invoices as open items with due dates. Supplier bank details sealed and confirmed once. Credit notes. Ageing. Pay bills into the same batch. Now the purchase ledger, beside the sales ledger.
Items and SKUs, purchases to stock via one remembered question, weighted-average cost of sales on invoice lines, counts as adjustment cards, low-stock warnings. Off entirely until the first item exists.
Cash flow statement, changes in equity, P&L by cost centre, an audit page, a year-end pack for the accountant, fixed assets with depreciation, and a period lock once a month is signed off.
A pay link on every invoice; the payment settles the invoice, stops the chase and posts the fee as its own line; one payout matches many payments. Quiggy never holds card data. Still to come: guided processor setup, a payment page per event, the surcharge rule.
The paperwork of being a business
Ledger software stops at the ledger. Quiggy already knows the business better than any of them, so it does the paperwork with you — and stops, deliberately, where a licensed human must sign.
Company documents held once, sealed, with expiry cards. One click assembles the pack a bank, a payment processor, a landlord or a procurement team asks for — with the expected-activity narrative written from the actual books.
Every event as its own cost centre: quote, deposits, crew and contractor invoices, travel and per diems, attendee card payments. Margin while it's happening, not in March.
A filled draft from your own template plus a one-page brief for your lawyer: what changed, what's unusual, what to check. E-signature, then the contract's terms become the invoice terms and the chasing ladder. Never legal advice.
Memorandum and articles from the statutory model, beneficial-owner form, consents, fee, identity documents — one question at a time, one bundle for your advisor to sign and file. Then annual returns and registry changes, pre-filled, with a calendar.
The reusable superpower: Quiggy opens the pages, fills what it knows, tells you exactly what to click, and never sees a secret. Demonstrated on a real cloud console in fifteen minutes.
Formation, bank account, processor onboarding, landlord, procurement, buyer due diligence — the same sealed facts, assembled for whoever is asking, with a checklist of what they still need.
For accounting firms
Your name, logo and colours on the shell, the invoices and the emails — the colour treated as a hue and derived to steps that read in both themes. Invented firms only in demos; never a real brand without written agreement.
Every client's payroll runs awaiting approval and filings due, on one screen, with no approve-all button on purpose. Approvals stay with each client's director.
The hundred documents: a generated, balancing set with a manifest of what each one should do and a walkthrough from paper to trial balance. Learn how Quiggy decides before you trust it with a client.
The onboarding checks firms actually have to do, assembled from the vault the client already keeps.
Quiggy prepares and grades; the practitioner signs. The firm is both the channel and the reviewer who flips each country pack from unconfirmed to confirmed.
Worldwide from day one
Everything jurisdictional — tax, payroll, filings, formation forms, e-invoicing, bank rails, language — lives in a country pack. The pack factory that built Malta's payroll from official sources, cited and reviewed, is how every next country is opened.

Parked, on purpose
Written down so they stop taking up room in our heads. None of these is a stage. Each would have to earn its place by the same rules as everything above.
